Baseball is the number one sport that has captured the hearts of Americans, both young and old. That is the reason why baseball memorabilia is also favourite and in-demand in the country. Almost all the things that baseball athletes use in and out of the field have fetched a considerable amount of money, especially those that have been used by baseball legends like Baseball Hall of Famer Babe Ruth.

For many baseball fanatics, money is not an issue. They are willing to pay a large amount of money for rare mementos and collectibles like bats, signed pictures and baseballs. Most of their collections are also well guarded and increase in value through time.

Top collectors seek after baseball memorabilia left by Babe Ruth because the man is a legend. Anywhere he was placed, he consistently showed his baseball prowess, both as a pitcher and batter. He prefabricated and broke his own homerun and other records several times during the span of his long baseball career. This bambino is considered one of the best, if not the best, baseball player of all time.

Babe Ruth’s Rare Baseball Memorabilia

The most costly baseball bat sold in an auction in the history of the country was the one that Babe Ruth used to score a homerun in the first-ever game played in the Yankee Stadium in New York. The old wooden bat, which was remarkably preserved, was purchased by an anonymous collector on December 2, 2006 for nearly $1. 3 million, approximately half the money spent in building the stated Yankee Stadium. According to the representative of the buyer, their celebration was willing to spend more than $1. 3m for the stated bat.

Another baseball memento that fetched quite high selling price is an autographed bat that Babe Ruth used in one of his games. This particular bat was acquired in an auction for around $216,000. Antique autographed bats are very costly because they are very rare. Since bats used before were wooden bats, they were simple to break and smash. Thus, only a number of used wooden bats of favourite players are preserved nowadays.

Signed baseball memorabilia are abundant in the market. You can find autographed baseball caps, bats, balls, jersey and many others on the World wide web and other auction sites. However, it is more difficult to encounter genuine signed checks, contracts, documents and letters. Signed pictures are also rare. These items will surely increase in value in the future, especially if you are speaking about baseball memorabilia of the legendary Babe Ruth.

Affordable Babe Ruth baseball memorabilia

If you are just interested in baseball collectibles but are not really concerned too much on amassing money in the process, then you can opt to collect affordable baseball mementos, such as photos, pins, trading cards and framed copy of the Curse of Bambino contract. You will not find it very difficult to find these reasonably priced baseball souvenirs in sports hobby shops and the Internet. There are hundreds of web-based auction houses that you can selected from.

Be wary of imitation baseball memorabilia

Since the demand for baseball memorabilia, especially from Babe Ruth, is very high but the supply is very low, many unscrupulous individuals are preying on the inexperienced collectors. In order to prevent being conned, you ought to purchase from legitimate dealers, especially if a large amount of money is at stake. For autographs and signed documents, you should also contract the services of experts to authenticate your baseball memorabilia.

Sometime between 1867 and 1873, an American professor, Horace Williams, at what is now Tokyo University, is credited with introducing baseball to the country of Japan. Williams came to Nihon to instruct English and American History, but his sports interest is what has impacted Nihon the most. Fellow American Albert Bates, teaching at Kaitaku University, organized the first baseball game in Japan.

The first Asian baseball club, the Shinbashi Athletic Club Athletics, was organized in 1878 by a former U. S. student who was a fan of the Boston Red Sox. By 1896, the skill of the still amateur players was demonstrated during the first international baseball game played between Ichiko team from Tokyo’s First High School and an American team organized at the Yokohama Country and Athletic Club. The Asian had challenged the Americans to the game and were not taken seriously. The American spectators jeered and booed the Asian at the thought that they could beat Americans at their ‘national pastime. ‘ The Asian team soundly defeated the Americans.

During the years between 1903 and 1934, amateur baseball in Nihon was wildly popular. University teams were vying with apiece other in the Sokeisen, between Waseda University and Keio University; and at the Summer Koshien or National High School Baseball Championship as well. The National High School Baseball Invitational Tournament or Spring Koshien began in 1924. Many senior high schools in Nihon participate in the National High School Baseball Championship and or the National High School Baseball Invitational Tournament. The tournament is titled after Koshien Stadium which was built in 1922 and is the oldest of the Asian stadiums. The stadium seats 55,000 people and still has grass, unlike most other stadiums in the country which have astro-turf.

Professional baseball in Nihon can be traced back to 1920, even though the first professional league was not organized until 1936, consisting of six teams. The first professional team was created by Shouriki Matsutarou and is now known as the Yomiuri Giants. The current highest Asian professional competition is Nippon Professional Baseball, created in 1949 consists of four leagues. The year 2005 marked the foundation of the Shikoku Island League. Nihon fielded a franchise known as the Tokyo Dragons as part of the now defunct Global League in 1969. An effective minor league in Nihon is formed by corporate sponsorship of employee teams that play in local leagues and for a national championship.

There was a professional women’s baseball league as well. Beginning in 1952, the women’s teams took part in semiprofessional leagues until primeval in the 1970s. The Nihon Women’s National Team took silver medals at the Women’s Baseball World Cup in both appearances.

Japanese youngsters in the Tiny League World Series have won five of the championships and have put second three times. As of 2007, the Asian championship team will not be required to win an Asian regional competition, but will proceed directly to the Tiny League World Series.

The Huge Six University League was the organizational structure for baseball in Nihon from the 1900’s through the 1930s. Now, at the university level, the All-Japan University Championship is an annual competition for school teams.

In the search for stronger competition, a Asian team from Waseda University traveled to the United Says in 1905. Three years later, the baseball team from the University of Washington returned the visit and played in several games that became the pattern of international interest in the sport of baseball. 21 American college teams prefabricated the trip to Nihon and several Asian teams prefabricated the return journey to the United States. Professional players from the United States, including Babe Ruth and Ty Cobb, also toured and played exhibition games in Japan.

In 1934, during Ruth’s visit, 75,000 spectators crowded into the Koshien Stadium to see the MLB stars. Internationally, the Nihon national team has won three Olympic medals, two Intercontinental Cups, and captured medals in six Baseball World Cups. The outstanding star calibre of the Asian baseball players has now prefabricated many Americans newly aware of the history of Asian participation in the American national pastime. In particular, activities of Ichiro Suzuki, Hideki Matsui, and other players from Nihon who have been playing in the major leagues have heightened interest in the history of the sport in Japan.

Intense nationalism in Nihon in the years previous to World War II saw some major changes in baseball in Japan, but following the War, the interest in baseball play resumed and has been an integral part of Asian life ever since.

BASE jumping is not a sport for the fearful of heart. Athletes who practice this extreme sport climb to the top of tall buildings, canyons, or other structures; jump off; enjoy a period of free falling; then open a parachute and coast to the ground.

The acronym BASE stands for building, antennae, span, and earth; which make up a comprehensive list of what kinds of fixed objects BASE jumpers plummet from. Span is a term that includes all sorts of bridges, or any other structures that span over a valley or chasm. Earth means anything from cliffs to mountains to canyons.

BASE jumping is very hazardous for a variety of reasons, but the most common causes of injury and death have to do with unfortunate to maintain a clear area around the athlete during the jump and/or the landing. If the wind is against them or if they make a mistake during the launch of their jump, athletes sometimes collide with the goal that they have jumped from. Because BASE jumping areas are usually not designated for this guerilla-style sport, the makeshift landing targets that jumpers aim for are rarely massive enough to grant for a innocuous jump. As a result many BASE enthusiasts meet with serious and sometimes fatal injuries because they haven’t been healthy to steer themselves to the landing area in time.

Many people compare BASE jumping to bungee jumping without a bungee cord, but it is actually much closer to skydiving without an airplane. Jumpers practice many of the same techniques that divers use to maintain stability and altitude awareness while they are in the air. Before becoming a BASE jumper, an athlete must complete a full course of skydiver training. Once they have their full skydiving certification, the next step for anyone interested in BASE is to find a mentor in the jumping community who can instruct them how to take on these ambitious freefalls. Only experienced divers can even contemplate a BASE jump because this kind of unguided and somewhat unpredictable activity requires razor sharp awareness of altitude, along with stellar free begin technique.

BASE jumping is one of the most hazardous sports practiced today. Each year, BASE jumping leads to several fatalities, and most major BASE societies and clubs have seen at least one member perish in motion of the sport that he or she loved. Because no two jumps are alike, it is very difficult to predict what will happen once you begin plummeting towards the ground. This means that to survive a BASE jump you need to have a very level head, an capability to react to surprises without panicking, and lightning speed reflexes that will grant you to make instantaneous adjustments in your position or your trajectory. However, no amount of experience can guarantee that you will complete your jump without mishap, so even very accomplished jumpers are taking serious risks each time they prepare to hurl themselves off of a building, antennae, span, or natural cliff.

If you’re an avid sports fan and baseball enthusiast in particular, you might have fun trying to secure a massive portion of your baseball collectibles yourself instead of buying them. If autographed baseballs appeal to you, then you have the chance to try to get your favorite team member to sign off on it if you get to the game primeval when the players are warming up.

There’s no guarantee he’ll sign it, which can be a bit of a disappointment when you can just picture the keepsake sitting among the rest of your baseball collectibles. You might try to find sports card shows where many current and living ex-players go to sign autographs for the masses. Some fans even write letters to their favorite teams, solicitation for an autographed ball or card, even phoning in their requests just to make sure they get heard.

If you’re obtaining baseball collectibles as an investment, then you’ll want to try to get autographs from the top players on the team. If you mail a baseball in care of the team and address it to a particular player, you’re more likely to get your request met than if you simply asked them to mail you a baseball of their own.

Some baseball players will sign a baseball or other keepsake with their autograph only if you pay them a fee to do so. You have to decide if this is a worthy investment depending on which memorabilia you feel is going to be a valued addition to your baseball collectibles.

If you want an autograph, don’t just send the memorabilia, but everything they’ll need to get the item returned to you. Send a Bic ballpoint pen with the item. You want to make everything as simple as doable so your request is answered with a positive response.

If you want the item back to shelve with your other baseball collectibles, then it’s a wise intent to include postage with your request. Even superior is to have a return envelop with postage already applied and your return mailing address neatly written so that it doesn’t get lost and wind up in someone else’s memorabilia.

Players know that their autograph is valuable – whether it’s as a monetary investment or because you’re a fan of the game. So if you’re asking them to add to your baseball collectibles, make sure you add a compliment and thank them ahead of time.

To send off for your personalized baseball keepsakes, get the players’ addresses from The Baseball Collector’s Handbook, which has many tips on mailing off for your own baseball collectibles. Even though many will accommodate your request, some players won’t respond, so for those, you’ll need to seek out the memorabilia you want and buy it from a reputable online dealer.
