Frank Mir lands a devastating knockout with a standing knee to the grappling of Mirko Cro Cop Filipovic at UFC 119. The knee was astounding to end an otherwise boring fight. Frank Mir is brash, he tough enough to fight against the ideal fighters in the UFC. Sometimes he wins like he did at UFC 119 with his devastating knee to the head of Cro Cop. Sometimes Frank Mir loses, but still he fights the ideal of the ideal heavyweights the UFC has to offer. Frank Mir is not afraid of anybody and he evidenced it at UFC 119. I am glad I did not purchase the event of Pay per View. The fights were decent, but they were not overly exciting. UFC 119 was good enough to watch with a few of your friends at the local sports bar. You could have also picked up the preliminary fights for free on Spike TV. There was no championship fight at UFC 119. However, UFC 119 landed with a bang. Frank Mir knocked out Mirko Cro Cop with a devastating knee to the head. It was an astounding shot and an astonishing ending.
Jeremy Stephens vs. Melvin Gulliard
Melvin Guillard has the speed over Jeremy Stephens in their matchup at UFC 119. Both fighters come out looking to knock apiece other out. Melvin Guillard lands swift hard punches throughout the fight. Jeremy Stephens lands hard kicks to Melvin Guillard and counters off Guillard’s punches. The two fighters go back and forth for the three rounds of the fight. Both fighters did well in their fight. Jeremy Stephens looked a bit stiff through the fight, but landed good kicks and punches. Guillard was swift and his punches were hard. Two judges scored the fight pretty even. One judge must have been asleep through the entire fight. He scored the fight 30-27 for Melvin Guilliard. Melvin Guillard beats Jeremy Stephens at UFC 119 by split decision. Dana White tells the fighters in the UFC all the time not to let the fight go to the judges. Guilliard deserved the close decision for his swift combinations and ring savvy.
Evan Dunham vs. Sean Sherk
Sean Sherk was the UFC Lightweight Champion in 2007. He was suspended for a year for steroids use and lost his title. In UFC 119 Sean Sherk fights Evan Dunham. Sherk controls the first round against Evan Dunham and lands a crushing elbow which cuts Dunham. The blood gushes, the physician is called and the fight goes on. The cut over Dunham’s right eye is huge. It looks horrible. Most of the second round is controlled by Sean Sherk. He gets caught in a guillotine, but breaks free. Dunham turns up the pressure near the end of the round. He kicks and punches Sherk and lands two flying knees. Dunham comes out for the third round ready to fight. He wobbles Sherk with a right high kick. Sherk goes for a takedown, but Dunham gets right back up. Dunham peppers Sherk with punches in round three. He wobbles him with two more flying knees. The third round ends and the crowd cheers for Dunham. For some reason the judges give a split decision to Sean Sherk and not to Evan Dunham. The crowd boos. I am still booing with the decisions at UFC 119.
Matt Serra vs. Chris Lytle
Matt Serra and Chris Lytle are friends. They are UFC fighters and concur to fight apiece other in UFC 119. Both men come out trying to knock apiece other out. Lytle gets the superior of Serra through most of the fight. He seems to be stronger, quicker and have more stamina than Serra. Serra gives all he has, but is no match for Chris Lytle. Chris Lytle wins the match by unanimous decision. He was the superior of the two fighters tonight at UFC 119.
Antonio Rogerio Nogueira vs. Ryan Bader
Antonio Rogerio Nogueira is superior on his feet and Ryan Bader is superior on the ground. Ryan Bader is an excellent wrestler. Antonio Rogerio Nogueira lands a couple good punches to start the fight. Ryan Bader takes Nogueira down and shows him what ground and pound is like. He keeps Nogueira down and lands some decent punches from the top. Antonio Rogerio Nogueira finally gets back to his feet and lands a good shot to the liver. Ryan Bader controlled round one and wins it. The last two rounds of the fight are decided by ring control. Round two is very close because Noguira is a tough UFC fighter. Both men tire in round three because they are both giving it all they have to win this fight. Ryan Bader wins the fight by unanimous decision because he controlled most of the fight against Antonio Rogerio Nogueira at UFC 119. Nogueira got his shots in, but not enough to win the fight.
The Main Event
Frank Mir vs. Mirko Cro Cop Filipovic
Frank Mir and Mirko Cro Cop Filipovic fought two even, but boring rounds at the main event at UFC 119. There really was not much action. The fighters were feeling apiece other out. Frank Mir was trying to take Mirko Cro Cop down with tiny or no success. Finally, the action came in the third round. The fighters start the round just like the first two. It is getting boring and neither man deserves to win the bout. Suddenly Frank Mir lands an astounding standing knee to the grappling of Cro Cop. Cro Cop is instantly out and falls into a heap on the ground. Frank Mir lands a couple of punches before the ref stops the fight. The official time is 4:02 of the third. Frank Mir lands a devastating knockout against Mirko Cro Cop Filipovic at UFC 119’s main event.
Preliminary fights
Matt Mitrione defeats Joey Beltran by Unanimous decision
CB Dolloway guillotine chokes Joe Doerksen into submission
TJ Allow defeats Julio Paulino by Unanimous decision
Waylon Lowe defeats Steve Lopez by split decision
Thiago Tavares defeats Pat Audinwood by guillotine choke submission
Sean McCorkle defeats Mark Hunt swiftly with a Kimora
UFC 119 was not what it was cracked up to be. The main event lacked exciting until the devastating knee to the head Frank Mir landed against Mirko Cro Crop. Mirko Cro Crop will be seeing stars for a while tonight. Dana White is going to have to place together a superior group of fights than what we saw at UFC 119. This is especially true if he anticipates people to pay for his Pay per View events with their hard attained money. UFC 119 should have actually been place on Spike television as a free event for once. Frank Mir’s devastating knockout should have prefabricated some of the crowd go home at UFC 119. The fight was otherwise boring, but at least he gave us something to speak about at UFC 119.Sources

UFC 124 will be Georges St-Pierre vs Josh Koscheck II for the Welterweight Championship. UFC 124 will be seen live in Montreal, Canada on December 11, 2010. GSP has the belt and Josh Koscheck is hungry to take it from him. GSP is an exciting fighter who always makes for a great bout. Don’t show up to your local sports bar late because the rest of the card is not too shabby either. Jim Miller is always exciting and he fights a hungry young fighter called Charles Oliveira. Joe Stephenson is trying to climb his way back up the ranks in the UFC, while Matt Danzig is treading water and hoping not to drown in the tough UFC competition. And don’t forget Thiago Alves, he wants to make a good impression and get another shot at the title. Look for UFC 124 to be an exciting event filled with great UFC fights.
Pay-Per-View Bouts
Georges St-Pierre vs. Josh Koscheck –GSP and Josh Koscheck will meet for the second time at UFC 124. Josh Koscheck lost a unanimous decision to GSP at UFC 74 three and a half years ago. Both fighters have improved their skills since that fight. GSP is the superior overall fighter and one of the ideal pound for pound fighters in the UFC. GSP is the UFC Welterweight Champion. Josh Koscheck has improved his skills since their last meeting and is ready for a title shot. Who will win and why?
The Ultimate Fighter 12 has shown us important tendencies about both of these fighters. GSP is all business when it comes to fighting. He does his work, goes into the ring and wins. Outside the ring, GSP is one of the more respectful fighters you will ever see. Some fans have mistaken this respectfulness as a weakness, but it is not. GSP is a tough UFC champion who knows how to treat people outside the ring. GSP might beat other fighters up inside of the ring, but he will also shake their hands after the match.
Josh Koscheck (on the other hand) showed his true self during the Ultimate Fighter 12. Josh Koscheck is a punk and a hot head. He does not seem to know how to treat people with respect. Josh Koscheck looked down on GSP throughout The Ultimate Fighter 12. He looked down on the fighters. Josh Koscheck does not know how to keep the fight inside the ring and treat people with respect outside of the ring. He seems to want to be the bad boy in the UFC. Good thing for Josh that he still has talent.
This should be a great fight at UFC 124. GSP has the advantage, but Josh Koscheck will give GSP everything he can handle. Look for this fight to turn into a brawl if Josh Koscheck is healthy to near GSP into his type of fight. Both men are good on their feet. I would give the advantage to GSP because he has great punches and kicks. Koscheck is a wrestler with something to prove. He will want to take GSP down and try to pound him out. The problem is Koscheck might find himself on his back for much of the fight. Wrestlers do not like to be on their backs. GSP evidenced his wrestling skills in their first fight. Both men can punch, but GSP just might have a tiny too much for Josh Koscheck to handle at the moment. Look for this to be a decision win for GSP. A knockout by either fighter at UFC 124 would lend excitement at the end of a great UFC card.
Stefan Struve vs. Sean McCorkle-on paper, this looks like a mismatch for Stefan Struve. Struve is 4-2 in the UFC, while this is on the second fight for Sean McCorkle in the UFC. McCorkle has fought mostly unknown fighters. Stefan Struve has fought a few known fighters; however he has been knocked out by them. Roy Nelson knocked him out and Junior Dos Santos knocked Stefan Struve out. McCorkle is good on his feet and on the ground. I would give the advantage to McCorkle because I believe Dana White set this fight up for some reason. He wanted to see if Sean McCorkle has what it takes to really fight in the UFC. The only question that remains is if Sean McCorkle will still be undefeated after UFC 124 is over. In my opinion, I would not have place this fight right in the middle of a great UFC card. Let’s hope it excites us with more than most of us anticipate from these two fighters.
Jim Miller vs. Charles Oliveira-This might be the most exciting fight of the night. GSP and Josh Koscheck have the headlines, while these two fighters are hungry for the headlines. Jim Miller has more experience than Charles Oliveira. Charles Oliveira has a ton of skill. The Brazilian is schooled in the art of blended martial arts, but is he ready for Jim Miller. Not likely. Jim Miller has skill in each aspect of the blended martial arts world. He can punch, he can fight, he can wrestle, he can ground and pound and he is skilled in submissions. This fight might wind up with both fighters standing. If it does, anticipate Jim Miller to pound on Charles Oliveira all night long. Oliveira has not lost a fight, but Jim Miller will test the Brazilian throughout their fight. I anticipate Jim Miller to pull out another victory. However, I am always open to surprises in the UFC. That’s what makes the UFC such an exciting sport to watch.
Joe Stevenson vs. Mac Danzig-Mac Danzig won the Ultimate Fighter 6 and has not been what everybody expected in the UFC. Mac Danzig has lost four of his last five fights against tough UFC fighters. At UFC 124, things do not get any easier for Mac Danzig. At UFC 124 Mac Danzig will fight a hungry fighter titled Joe Stevenson. Joe Stevenson has been out of the UFC picture since his loss to BJ Penn for the Lightweight championship in 2008. Stevenson has been 3-2 against the ideal of the UFC since that time. He is a great fighter who is hungry to climb up the harm and get another shot at a championship. Matt Danzig should not be healthy to stop Joe Stevenson’s climb. In fact, Mac Danzig might be on his way out of the UFC if he does not win this fight. Look for Joe Stevenson to school Mac Danzig throughout this fight. Anticipate Stevenson to win by a decision or a submission. Sorry Mac Danzig, this might not be your night. You have not done very well against the ideal of the UFC.
Thiago Alves vs. John Howard-Thiago Alves needs to get back to his winning ways at UFC 124. John Howard just might be what Thiago Alves needs to turn his career back in the right direction. Alves has lost his last two fights to very tough fighters. Interestingly, he is a UFC fighter who beat Josh Koscheck. John Howard poses some problems on his feet, but if he can get Howard to the ground, Alves will finish the lesser ground fighter. Look for Alves to get a decision or a submission in this fight. This fight is prefabricated to order for him, he superior be sure to thank Dana White for supporting a victorious carrot right in front of him. We can’t take anything away from John Howard, but he is too inexperienced to beat a fighter like Alves. Alves wants another chance at the Welterweight championship against GSP.
Preliminary Bouts-no bouts will be seen free on Spike television this time
Mark Bocek vs. Dustin Hazelett
Jesse Bongfeldt vs. Rafael Natal
Matthew Riddle vs. Sean Pierson
Joe Doerksen vs. Dan Miller
TJ Allow vs. Ricardo Almeida
Pat Audinwood vs. John Makdessi
UFC 124 Georges St-Pierre vs. Josh Koscheck should be a great time for the people in Montreal, Canada. This venue has some great fights and is worthy of a drive to your local sports bar. Takes some friends, drink a beer (do not drink and drive) and enjoy a fantastic night full of UFC fights at UFC 124. It should be a blast.
