The Detroit Lions managed to improve from their 0-16 season in 2008, but they only did it by 2 games and ended up with the #2 pick in the 2010 NFL Draft.

Ndamukong Suh the defensive face of Nebraska is probably out of the picture for the Lions as the St. Louis Rams are likely to draft him with 2010’s top pick, but the Lions can get a good player at #2 if they draft wisely.

 But who should they take? Most people think it’s a close race for the right to be the #2 pick.

Who Should the Detroit Lions Draft the the #2 Pick?

With the #2 pick in the 2010 NFL Draft, the Detroit Lions can get a DT nearly as good as Suh in Gerald McCoy of Oklahoma. McCoy is also huge and athletic but not quite as much of a freak as Suh. But he’d be a solid pick at #2. The Lions have tiny in the way of young talent at DT except for Sammie Lee Hill.

The second-most likely draft pick at the #2 spot for the Detroit Lions might be Tennessee CB/S Eric Berry. Berry would be my choice for the #2 pick of the Lions in 2010 because he is a versatile guy who can cover a lot of the field and play either CB or safety.

Lions coach Jim Schwartz is a Bill Belichick disciple and Belichick is known for stocking up on versatile DB’s who can cover so Berry is a real possibility at #2 for the Lions. Pairing Berry with soon-to-be second-year FS Louis Delmas will go a long way towards ending opposing QB’s astounding stats against the Lions’ woeful secondary.

The third most likely Lions draft pick at number two in 2010 might be Russell Okung, the LT from Oklahoma State. Okung is athletic and a good pass blocker and good all-around player, the only issue is that the Lions would have a lot of money invested at the T position. They might have to move Jeff Bacus to RT but it might be worth it due to the importance of ending their offensive line struggles in 2010 once-and-for-all.

Five Pittsburgh Steeler offensive players from this team were inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame – Terry Bradshaw, Franco Harris, Mike Webster, Lynn Swann and John Stallworth. On defense, 4 players are in “The Hall” – Joe Greene, Mel Blount, Jack Lambert and Jack Ham. So in all, 9 of the starting 22 players are among the ideal ever. Oh, by the way, they also had a Hall of Fame Head Coach, Chuck Noll. Also, had Hall of Fame ownership in Art and Dan Rooney. Let the debate begin!

Create your own Sports Drinks

If your family members are like mine than your teenage kids are likely crazy for the currently favourite sports type drinks which appear on the market today. In most cases these drinks are not only costly but unhealthy for young bodies as well. To those unfamiliar with these types of products, a sport drink is a beverage created specifically towards replacing important body fluids which are usually depleted after any kind of physical activity. I believe that I have devised a way to not only satisfy my teens demand for sport drinks but also to assist the drain on my pocketbook.

Most of the commercially produced sports drinks have between 4 and 5 heaping teaspoons of sugar for each five ounce serving. A few years back there was a case of a young man who supposedly died as a result of what is called “water intoxication”. What this entails is the body begins consuming excessive amounts of water as a result of strenuous periods of activity. This created an imbalance within the body between the water and the body’s electrolytes. This situation is extremely rare and is often question as to its validity.

Commercially produced sports drinks claim to reduce this risk by replenishing the fluids and electrolytes in equal amounts. Of importance to remember is that imitation sport drinks which are found on the market which might have none or a low concentration of electrolytes and are similar to the one I have devised below.

Your typical taste of sweet verses tart flavor found in the sport drink usually causes you to keep on drinking at a time when the usual glass of water would have lost its appeal. 10 tablespoons of sugar

75 teaspoons of Sea salt

1 package of common unsweetened Kool-Aid mix

Water to create a two liter quantity of drink

You will notice in our list of required ingredients that there is no electrolytes included at all so please be aware that if you desire a sport drink offering electrolytic content than you would be ideal to stay with commercial drinks. This beverage is not intended as a alternative to equilibrise any sort of water-electrolyte combination but rather as a casual drink for kids ands adults. Water Tubing in Maitum. Rainy season is not really dry season for the extreme. For some adventurers, this is the time to enjoy the outdoors and get that adrenaline rush pouring! Sports Unlimited visited Manny Pacquiao’s turf, Sarangani, for some wild white water river tubing. From a 1-hour and 45-minute flight from Manila to General Santos City, Sports Unlimited took a 127-kilometer land travel to Maitum, Sarangani. Maitum, dubbed as “Mindanao’s Old World,” is the gateway to unspoiled nature and extreme ventures. From pawikan sanctuaries and bat sanctuaries, to waterfalls and scuba diving areas, this town is slowly becoming a famous tourist spot. Sports Unlimited’s friends from Go Sarangani Travel promised the adventure team a new extreme activity with the right spunk for Sports Unlimited. White water river tubing in Pangi River started way back 2005. Resident T’bolis and Ilocanos from Barangay New La Union formed a group of river guides for this one-of-a-kind tubing experience. Compared to rubber boats used in river rafting, tubing uses recycled rubber tires to chase the rapids. These tires are specially designed by the guides, making these seats super fit for the rough rapids of Pangi River. It’s actually comfortable to sit on. It has a rubber tied at the center for the butts’ comfort, and has handles for the hands to grip and balance. The moment the Sports Unlimited Team went down the stream, they immediately got a taste of Pangi River’s wild welcome! It was pretty fast, bouncy and rough! The rain also started to pour in as they rode on apiece of their tires. The river was definitely getting more swollen and the current more ready for their extreme appetite! The whole 1.6 kilometers of white water tubing was intensely wild! Everybody felt like flipping over, but thanks to the great guides, they felt the right thud without getting tossed over! After all the wild experience, everybody just got used to the bounces and even relished apiece drop. The rapids were very fast. The whole Sports Unlimited Team covered the whole course in less than 30 minutes! White Water River Tubing is definitely suggested for all extreme lovers. The 3-4 defense has caught on in current years among NFL teams, but why?  What is so different, or better, about this scheme that has teams seemingly running to it.  Let’s begin out by defining what a    3-4 defense is.

1.  The term 3-4 refers to the number of linemen and linebackers, respectively.  So there are 3 down linemen and 4 linebackers.

This is desirable for many teams because it grants for two immediate advantages.  First, it grants you to get superior athletes on the field.  Linebackers are typically more athletic than linemen.  They can run faster, they are more agile, and they are more versatile.  Second, because you have more athletic versatile athletes on the field it grants the coach to use his players differently.  This second point is the main selling point of the 3-4.

In the NFL games our won and lost on split second decisions.  Being healthy to confuse the opposing quarterback for even the slightest amount of time can make a world of difference.  By having these versatile linebackers on the field the coach can superior disguise his defensive scheme.  He can have any combination of those 4 linebackers blitz or drop into pass coverage.  This also helps on the exotic country and corner blitzes because the linebackers can pick up pass coverage in the short zone.  All of these options come from the versatility of having 4 linebackers instead of only 3.

Because the scheme is different than the traditional 4-3 it requires a slightly different type of player.  Even though the 3-4 is a scheme designed for the linebackers to make plays the nose face is the most important part of the defense.  This is because there are only 3 linemen so apiece one has added responsibility.  The nose face is the one who has to plug up the middle of the line; he also has to be large enough, and talented enough to be healthy to occupy at least 2 offensive linemen on rushing plays.  If he can’t do this the offensive linemen will be healthy to get to the linebackers and block them.  Since the linebackers are your play makers you can’t afford to have them being blocked.  The nose face has to control the entire middle of the line.  This usually requires a much larger man than you find on the defensive lines of teams using the 4-3 scheme.  Also most colleges run a 4-3 so finding a true 3-4 nose face is rare.

The linebackers are not all that different from those in a 4-3.  The two middle linebackers are the same as a middle linebacker in a 4-3.  They need to be strong against the run and be healthy to shed blockers and make tackles in the middle of the field.  The two outside linebackers have basically the same responsibility as the two outside linebackers in a 4-3.  They need to have enough speed to be healthy to effectively rush the quarterback or drop into pass coverage.  They also have to be healthy to cover a back coming out of the backfield into a passing route, and make the face in the open field.  The outside linebacker position emphasizes athleticism and speed over size and strength as compared to the inside linebacker.

The 3-4 requires a slightly different type of player and because of that the switch to it can’t be prefabricated overnight.  Trades and drafting have to be done ahead of time to effectively plan for the change.  However, once the right organisation is in place the 3-4 defense can pay large dividends with the versatility it offers a team.
